Offline Inventory Software for Everyday Shop Work
Keep stock, checkout, and customer-credit work on your device after setup. Initial loading, production registration, and cloud services require internet. The local app is free; Cloud Sync is optional.
All local application features are included. Storage capacity depends on your device and browser.
Each browser and device has its own workspace storage. Another device cannot see unsynchronized records automatically.
Cloud tiers limit new hosted records, not local use. Initial migration carries existing records without quota trimming.
Set up, test, and protect your local workspace
A locally saved sale and a synchronized sale are different states. Check both before switching devices.
Set up while online
Load Slapsoil and complete registration. Install the PWA using your supported browser, then open the screens you need and test them with the connection off.
Test a small stock workflow
In a sample workspace, receive stock, complete a sale, review the remaining quantity, and record a credit repayment. Reopen the app offline and check the saved history.
Keep an export you can restore
Export an encrypted backup and keep it somewhere separate from the device. Test restoring it before clearing browser storage or replacing the device.
Check cloud status before changing devices
Cloud Sync runs while the app is open and online, normally on a roughly 15-second cycle. This is not an immediate-delivery guarantee. Check pending and local-only records before relying on another device.
Keep spreadsheet work on this device
After setup, spreadsheets work offline on this device for plans and calculations. A spreadsheet does not sync through Cloud Sync, does not change stock, and is included in workspace backup exports.
What stays local, and what needs a connection?
Cloud Sync extends selected records to other devices; it does not change whether the local workflow can run after setup.
| Task | Works locally after setup | Internet requirement | Optional Cloud Sync | Important caveat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| First load and production registration | Not available before setup | Required to load the app and create the workspace | Not required for later local use | Open and test the screens you need before relying on them during an outage. |
| Reorder suggestions and draft purchase orders | Review suggestions and create or edit drafts | Not required after setup | Required before another device can see synced orders | The assistant does not contact suppliers or model supplier lead time. |
| Receiving stock in full or in parts | Receive against the local purchase order | Not required after setup | Optional for cross-device order and stock visibility | Another device sees the receipt only after successful synchronization. |
| Stocktake and cycle counting | Count, review, and reconcile on this device | Not required for a local count | Required for multiple devices to share count lines | The till stays open; reconciliation applies the variance, and batch variance goes to the newest lot. |
| Internal consumption and 30-day item velocity | Record internal use and review records available here | Not required after setup | Remote records must arrive before this device can include them | Internal consumption is management reporting, not accounting or COGS. Bundle velocity stays on the bundle. |
| Held carts | Hold and recall carts on this device | Not required after setup | Not available; held carts are device-local | They reserve no stock, are not backed up, and recall uses current catalog price and availability. |
| Split tender and payment-method recording | Record several tender legs against one sale | Not required to record the sale | Optional for the completed sale record | Slapsoil does not process card or e-wallet payments. Change is given only from cash. |
| Promotions and loyalty redemption | Apply eligible local rules and redeem points | Not required when rules and records are already present | Required to share promotion rules and loyalty ledger entries | Usage limits are best-effort offline; concurrent redemption can create a negative balance to reconcile. |
| X- and Z-readings | Print an X-reading; an admin can close and freeze a Z-reading | Not required after setup | Optional for the closed shift record | X-readings are not stored. Neither reading establishes tax, accounting, or legal compliance. |
| Encrypted backup export and restore | Uses local records and a backup file | Needed only when the file is kept in an online drive | Separate from backup and restore | Keep a separate export and test restoring it before clearing browser storage or replacing a device. |
| Cloud activation and another device | Cannot activate cloud service or send changes while offline | Required for activation, cloud sign-in, and synchronization | This is the cross-device service | A local save is not proof that another device has received the record. |

Common questions
Will my inventory survive clearing browser storage?
Local data can be lost when storage is cleared, the browser removes site data, or the device fails. Keep encrypted exports and verify that they restore. A cloud copy only covers records that successfully synchronized.
Does cloud sync send every change instantly?
No. Sync requires connectivity and a running app. Delays, retries, quotas, and conflicts can affect delivery. Check sync status; do not assume another device has the latest stock just because this one saved it.
Can I keep working when cloud coverage is full?
Yes. Local-only records remain usable on the device that holds them. New records beyond cloud quotas wait locally until capacity is available or the plan changes. They are not automatically present on another device.
Is local storage the same as a backup?
No. It is the working database on this device. A backup is a separate copy that you can restore. Optional cloud synchronization is also not a substitute for checking local-only records and retaining exports.
